If you attend a Fountain Creek Brass Band concert, you will likely notice a certain
energy flowing from the podium. Perpetual motion might well define Director Debbie
Baker's style and approach to conducting and leading the FCBB towards excellence
as one of the region's finest performing groups. You don't need to go far to verify
that her energy has had an effect on the local musical world--just ask about any
of her contest award winning students at Colorado Springs Christian School. Debbie
currently serves CSCS as the Director of Bands and Director of Fine Arts.
Debbie's directing
career with the band began in 1999 as the associate director and in 2002 she was
appointed as the musical director continuing the bands drive for excellence
by adding a diverse set of literature to the repertoire and encouraging the growth
of the musical skills of the group.
Debbie
earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Masters in Music degrees
from Kansas State University, and is a member of the American School Band Directors
Association, Colorado Music Educators Association, Music
Educators National Conference, Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Beta Mu.
She also serves regularly as a clinician and adjudicator for state and regional
music contest and workshop events.
