Our all volunteer membership ranges from musicians with symphonic and jazz backgrounds
as well as traditional concert band experience. Several members held positions
in military bands including our own USAF Academy Band, the United States Marine
Band, the D.C. Navy Band, and the Naval Academy Band.

Many
members of the band are active in community endeavors, including professional,
business, educational, military and other fields. Others come from the higher
levels of the educational systems we so actively promote, and some commute from
Denver, Pueblo, and other areas of the state.

Mark has been playing cornet with FCBB since it’s beginning in 1999. Originally from Kansas, Mark grew up performing in many community organizations and in the ranks of local Drum and Bugle Corps until age 21. He studied trumpet with Dr. Paul Shull at Kansas State University and was a member of the KSU Marching Band, Concert Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, KSU Brass Choir and Trumpet Choir. Mark moved to Colorado with his wife Debbie in 1984. Mark has been involved with many community ensembles throughout Colorado and is currently the Minister of Worship at Christlife Community Church in Franktown, Colorado. |

Tim received a Bachelors of Music Education from Texas Tech and a Masters in Trumpet Performance from the University of Wyoming. He has performed in pit orchestras, jazz big bands and combos, wind ensemble, chamber groups, brass bands and symphony orchestras. He currently teaches 6th-12th grade music at Craver Middle School and Rye High School. He and his wife live in Colorado Springs.

Rick has been a member of the band since 2004. He earned a B.A. degree in Music Ed. from Marshall University in 1977, where he studied trumpet with J. D. Folsom. His professional experience includes a tour with the NORAD Command Band in Colorado Springs, CO (1977-1979). Rick continued his military duty in the cockpit of several different aircraft (KC-135/T-37/KC-10) and retired as a USAFR officer in 1998. He is currently an A320 Captain for United Airlines and makes his home in Franktown, Colorado with his wife of 33 years, Suzie. Rick assumed the duties of principal cornet in January 2007 and his instrument of choice is the Yamaha Xeno cornet. |

Jeremiah went to Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. It was there that he was first introduced to British Brass Band while playing in the Colorado Brass Band under the direction of Mr. John Kincaid. After graduating with a degree in music education Jeremiah joined the Rocky Mountain Brassworks in Denver, CO and played with them until 1999 when he joined the FCBB. Jeremiah played with the FCBB from 1999-2003 and rejoined the group in 2006. Jeremiah taught band at Panorama Middle School in Harrison School District 2 from 1995-2009, and now teaches band at Holmes Middle School in School District 11. |

Born and raised in Ohio, Laurie and her family moved to the Springs area where she graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School. She studied trumpet at UNC Greeley and upon graduation, began her elementary music teaching career in Pueblo and also played in several local groups including the Pueblo Symphony. After receiving a Masters in Education from UCCS, Laurie obtained a Masters in Theology from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. After returning to the Springs area, her musical pursuits have included the Springs Chamber Orchestra and Little London Winds prior to joining FCBB in 2004. Laurie is an office administrator at a local area financial securities office. |
Kelly Scollin

Kelly grew up in Marshall, N.C. and began playing trumpet at the age of 9. He holds a B.M. from East Tennessee State University and an M.M. in trumpet performance from the University of Denver. Most recently, Kelly was in the United States Army Band, where he was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division Band at Fort Drum, N.Y. He is currently a full time student at the Colorado Institute of Musical Instrument Technology. Kelly resides in Colorado Springs with his lovely wife, Austina and he is proud to be a member of the Fountain Creek Brass Band. |

Jim grew up in Washington, PA. He started playing Cornet in 1970 under Paul Scandrol. He received his BA in Music from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in 1985, studying under Esotto Pellegrini. He began his long military career in 1986 with the US Army, and was a member of the 25th Inf Division Band, 4th Inf Division Band, and the 101st Army Band Colorado Army National Guard. Jim has been with the 19th Space Operations Squadron USAFR from 1993 to the present. He has been called upon to play taps at memorial services and other bugle calls for a variety of events. He performs with a variety of ensembles in the Colorado Springs area. He holds down the Repiano Cornet part in FCBB, and is an avid fly fisherman. |

Tom graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008 with a bachelors in music education and teaches in the Lewis-Palmer School district where he runs the beginning band program and assists at Lewis-Palmer High School, Palmer Ridge High School, and Lewis-Palmer Middle School. Tom also currently performs with the Rocky Mountain Wind Symphony and various groups in the El Paso County area. He works widely in the education world including college lectures, guest conducting, and presentations on topics from music advocacy to the effects of personality temperament on band program retention. |

Brian joined the Fountain Creek Brass Band in 2012. He spent most of his life in Palmer, Alaska, and came to Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. Brian currently performs as an enlisted soldier of the 101st Army Band of the Colorado National Guard, and as a member of the Martini Shot, a local original and cover band. After having taught public school for 11 years as the Director of Bands in the Manitou Springs School District, he is currently pursing an aviation career with the Jeppesen Corporation. While not making music, Brian enjoys flying helicopters and riding motorcycles throughout Colorado. |

Bob
has been with the band since 2004 upon moving to the Springs from Minneapolis.
Bob's music history includes nine years in the University of Illinois Marching
and Concert Bands as solo cornet, and 25 years as cornet/trumpet section lead with the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band of Edina, MN
where he wrote over twenty concert band arrangements. He has continued arranging
for brass band as an FCBB member. Bob and his wife Carol McIntyre live in in Black Forest. Bob is a human factors and ergonomics consultant specializing in medical device safety compliance with FDA regulations. |

Steve is a computer security analyst with Lockheed Martin Corporation in Denver and has been with the FCBB since its inception in 1999. He holds a BS degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science from Mesa State College. Steve has been associated with various community music groups over the years and helped found the Grand Junction Centennial Band in which he participated in for 15 years. Steve and his wife Kim have three children (one of which is a US Navy Seal) and are currently living in Castle Rock, Colorado. |

Degree and a Psychology Minor. Charles currently teaches trumpet lessons

Renaissance Festival held each summer in Larkspur, CO. |

Sean joined FCBB in early 2009. Sean and his wife Tracy live in Cripple Creek where he is the director of school bands. Sean holds a BS in Music Education from University of Northern Colorado, and was a student of Dr. Scott Meredith and Bill Pfund. Sean has also been a member of the 101st Army Concert Band, and was the lead trumpet in their jazz band and rock band. |

Craig was the Director of Bands at Lewis-Palmer High School from 1980 to 2004. Throughout his tenure, Ketels’ ensembles were selected to perform at the Colorado Music Educators State Convention ten times. His Wind Symphony was selected to perform at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival in 1994, 1999, 2001, and 2004. In 2001 the LPHS second band, the Symphonic Band, was also selected to perform at BOA Nationals. Ketels graduated from Western State College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education K-12 and Music Performance. He received a Master of Arts degree in 1987 in Secondary Education from Adams State College. Ketels is a founding member of the Monument Hill Brass quintet and free-lances with several local orchestras. |

Mr. Anthony Ebert earned his B.A. in Music from Northwestern College (Orange City, IA) in 2008. While at Northwestern, Anthony performed in a number of ensembles and toured internationally with the Symphonic Band as a featured soloist. Anthony is a 2012 graduate of The American Band College of Sam Houston State University where he earned his M.M in Conducting. Mr. Ebert teaches 7-12 band at The Classical Academy in Colorado Springs and has performed with the brass band since 2008. |

Frank earned his BA in Music as a trumpet student of Louis Cassini at West Liberty University in West Virginia and continued graduate trumpet performance studies under Dr. Richard Burkhart at The Ohio State University. He joined the US Air Force Academy Band in 1979, and performed as featured soloist with the Academy Band and the NORAD band. In 1999, Frank co-founded the Fountain Creek Brass Band and was the band's Principal Cornet for eight years. In 2006, under the guidance of John Kincaid of Western State College, and Francis Laws of Wright State University, Frank transitioned to Principal Solo Tenor Horn. He held this position until 2012. Frank also served as Co-Principal Cornet with the WSU-Colorado Brass Band from 1999 to
2006 and principal Tenor Horn from 2006, where he has performed as a featured soloist. |

Andy started on the Tenor Horn at the age of 8 as a member of the Salvation Army Prince Georges, Maryland Corps. He is the eldest son of renowned composer Stephen Bulla (ASCAP). On May 6, 1998, at the age of 18, Andy enlisted in the United States Air Force and is currently an Air Force Knowledge Operations Manager. Serving all over the world from Ohio to Saudi Arabia, Albuquerque to Afghanistan and Africa, he played in many brass bands, including the Salvation Army's Denver Citadel Band in 2004, the Western Territorial Band in 2006, the National Capital Band in 2010 and in in his father's "Super Band" of volunteers known as "Brass of the Potomac" from 2009 to 2012. A member FCBB from 2003 to 2005, he joins the band again in 2013 while serving his second Air Force tour in Colorado Springs. |

Dusty grew up in Loveland, CO and graduated Summa Kum Laude from the University of Northern Colorado in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music Education. He played French horn in both the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble while in attendance. He started his teaching career by teaching a year in Pueblo as assistant band director at East High School. In 2009, he became band director at Monument Charter Academy in the Lewis Palmer School District where his bands consistently receive high ratings at contests and festivals. |

Josh Prewett is a music educator and trombone/baritone player who graduated from the University of Northern Colorado where he received his BME in Music Education. Josh performs frequently throughout the Colorado Springs and Denver Metro areas with various groups including the Castle Rock Trombone Quartet, Rocky Mountain Wind Symphony, and Swing Express. Josh has performed and worked with such names as Don Aliquo, Greg Gisbert, Slide Hampton, and Bill Holman. Josh currently lives in Colorado Springs where he works at Meeker Music Inc. as the educational sales representative. |

Carl “Chevy” Chevallard, PhD, joined FCBB in January, 2006. He’s a former music professor at Iowa Wesleyan College, Michigan State University, and San Jose State University, and the author of Teaching Music through Performing Marches, an internationally-acclaimed textbook. In 1983 he began a second career as an Air Force band officer, serving as the Assistant Conductor of The United States Air Force Band, Washington, DC. In 2004, he retired as the Commander and Conductor of the USAF Academy Band. In 2006, he created ConductYourLife LLC, a training/consulting company that develops leadership and team skills by applying the principals of a professional conductor.

Norlynn is a North Dakota native who played trumpet from grade school through college. After a 20-plus year hiatus, he resumed trumpet playing with the Colorado Springs Sunrise UMC orchestra in 1999. Shortly thereafter, he switched principal instruments to the euphonium and joined FCBB in 2002 serving as principal euphonium 2007-2012. He holds a BS in Psychology and BA in Computer Science & Mathematics both from the University of North Dakota and MBA with emphasis in Management of Information Technology, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Norlynn is a 30+ year veteran of the Information Technology industry and is currently employed by BMC Software, Inc. (headquartered in Houston, TX) as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst. |
Dallas Raby

Dallas is a product of the Salvation Army's worldwide brass band movement, starting on the baritone at the age of eight and eventually becoming principal euphonium in the Flint Michigan Citadel Band. A graduate of Kettering University, he was a senior project engineer in 12 years with General Motors in Flint. After becoming a Salvation Army officer, he was soloist and principal euphonium with the Army's Chicago Staff Band for five years where he also served as deputy bandmaster. Later, while serving in numerous officer appointments throughout the Midwest, he was a frequent guest conductor and soloist. Now retired, he and his wife Phyllis, also a Salvation Army Major, live in Woodland Park. |

Bill started his music career on the tuba in grade school in Louisiana. After high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps as a Euphonium player. As a member of the 2nd Marine Air Wing Band he performed for three years at various military functions and parades from Key West to Canada. Bill returned to the tuba as a member of "The Golden Band From Tigerland" at Louisiana State University. Ten years later, back on euphonium again (and not looking back), Bill played with the Salt Lake Symphonic Winds and the Utah Premiere Brass for three years. He moved to Colorado Springs in 2009 and has played with various community groups in the area, finally finding a "home" with the Fountain Creek Brass Band. Bill has been self-employed for 14 years in the paintless dent removal industry and is currently training disabled veterans and wounded warriors in his trade. |

Keven began playing with FCBB in January 2006. He is the Professor of Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba, at Colorado State University Pueblo and is the conductor of the University Brass Ensemble. Keven was a member of the US Navy Band, Washington D.C., and performs actively with the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Keven studied at the University of Puget Sound, the Eastman School of Music, and the Catholic University of America. |

Marching Band, and Concert and Symbonic Bands. Tom serves as staff on the board for the Colorado Music Educators' Association and the annual CMEA clinic and conference. |

Dan is a freelance arranger and plays both tenor and bass trombone with various local ensembles, including the Springs Contemporary Jazz Big Band, the New Century Big Band, the Rocky Mountain Wind Symphony, and the Pueblo Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Meadville, PA, he studied under legendary trombonist Matty Shiner at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and received a Bachelors in Music Education in 1971, and a Masters in Music Composition in 1973. As a graduate assistant, he was Director of the Duquesne University Concert Band and Assistant Director of the university’s wind ensemble. As an adjunct professor, he wrote for and directed the university’s highly acclaimed jazz ensemble. He entered the Air Force in 1973, and spent the majority of his 24-year career as an Education and Training Officer, including a tour as Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has performed with Wayne Newton, Nancy Wilson, Sonny and Cher, Jerry Vale, the Supremes, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and trombonists Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, and Warren Covington. Dan retired from the Air Force in 1997, and resides in Colorado Springs. |

Bruce completed his undergraduate studies at San Francisco Conservatory before joining the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, under the direction of conductor Michael Tilson-Thomas. While in college he won the prestigious International Trombone Association Bass Trombone Concerto Competition and was invited to perform at the ITA’s international conference. His orchestral career includes performances with the Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit, and San Francisco Symphonies. Bruce can also be heard with the Colorado Composers Big Band and the Chie Imazumi Big Band. |

Joe began playing with FCBB in December of 2010. He attended Rice University and graduated from The Juilliard School. After graduation Joe became the Principal Tuba for the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (La Coruna Spain), Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, San Antonio Symphony and The American Brass Quintet. Joe currently lives in Monument, Colorado with his wife Jennifer, where they run a Real Estate Brokerage.

Eddie played with the band from 2000 to 2006 and has recently been able to rejoin the group. He has a Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Kentucky where he was principal tuba in the orchestra, member of the marching band, pep band, symphonic band and tuba ensemble. He studied tuba with Rex Conner at the University of Kentucky and Interlochen. He is also a published composer of Tuba quartets. After a brief career in music education he attained Master’s in Information Technology and has spent the last 30 years in the IT industry and is currently a product manager for a medical software company. |

Principal Bb Tuba |  | Jess is the music director at Otero Elementary in Harrison School District 2. He began his musical endeavors in 6th grade with the alto sax, switching to baritone sax in 7th grade and tuba in his senior year. At CSU Pueblo he studied tuba under Carl Vail, Rick Crafts, Todd Sizer, and Andrew Tucker, and saxaphone under Ray Dewitt and Brad Eason. He graduated Cum Luade with a bachelors in music education. Since 2004 he has performed both Bb and Eb tuba with the Fountain Creek Brass Band and is active in the music community with many ensembles. He has performed with the Woodland Park Wind Symphony, Little London Winds, First Presbyterian Brass Ensemble, the Blue Knights, Pueblo Symphony, Rocky Mountain Wind Ensemble, and Swing Factory. Jess Lives in Colorado Springs with his fiance Trina along with their two dogs, cat, and tuba collection. His hobbies include off-roading, fishing, and home repair. |

Rick is a senior research manager with Johns Manville, located in Littleton, Colorado, and has been with FCBB since the spring of 2008. Rick holds a BS degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Kansas Wesleyan University, and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from The Ohio State University. He has participated in numerous community and church music groups over the years, most recently with the Castle Rock Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, and with the classic rock band The Procrastinators, also based in Castle Rock. |

Mr. Scott Bruce, Percussion,
resides in Colorado Springs where he is the Band Director at the
Evangelical Christian Academy Secondary Campus. He and his wife Paula
attend Village Seven Presbyterian Church where he is active with the
music department, singing in the choir and directing the orchestra. They
have two sons Stephen (Beth) and Erik (Julie) and two grandchildren. Mr.
Bruce received his BA in Music Education from Luther College, Decorah,
Iowa and was a member of the USAF Academy Band for over 30 years
retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. |

Mike earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. He joined The United States Air Force Academy Band in 1990 where he was a member of the Concert Band, Marching Band, Stellar Brass, and Academy Winds. He recently retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. He is currently the drummer with the Thin Air Jazz Ensemble and has performed with the Colorado Symphony and performs often as an extra percussionist with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. As a music educator, he ensures his private percussion students reach full musical growth and potential and assists high school percussionists in successfully entering top university music schools with scholarships. Michael is also the Band and Choir Teacher at Academy Charter School in Castle Rock Colorado. |

Rebecca

Rebecca has been with FCBB since January 2007. She moved to Colorado Springs in August 2012 to become the vocal music teacher in Calhan. From 2006-2012 she was the band director at Salida High School and Middle School. She has also taught in OK, NM, in AZ on the Navajo Reservation, and other Colorado districts. Rebecca holds a Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University and a bachelor degree in Music Education with a minor in history from Western State College of Colorado, studying flute with Deirdre Fotescu and percussion with Lonni Karly. Since 1992, Rebecca has been the administrative assistant and librarian for the Western State College-Colorado Brass Band that meets three times a year (February, June, and November) and has performed with the group since 1994. She has also arranged two concert band pieces for brass band. The first is On A Hymnsong of Philip Bliss by David Holsinger, which has been performed on several occasions by FCBB. The second is Gavorkna Fanfare by Jack Stamp, which was premiered, under her direction, by the WSC-CO Brass Band on June 24, 2011. Rebecca also performs in the local area on flute/piccolo with the Woodland Park Wind Symphony. |

Chuck Musholt, originally from Pennsylvania, has been playing music since the age of 8, beginning with piano, and later taking up trombone.. He attended Indiana University and the University of New Mexico, earning a Bachelors in Music Education and Masters in Music Performance. He enjoys playing both tenor and bass trombone, in almost any style – classical, jazz, rock/pop, salsa, and “new music.” Among the ensembles with which he has performed are the New Mexico Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, Austin Jazz Band, Pueblo Symphony, Austin Symphony and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. He has taught instrumental music at various levels and ages from kindergarten to undergraduate, in Indiana, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. He has also had students audition for and become selected for All-State ensembles in Indiana, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Other interests and associations include sales, training, public speaking and internet business. |

Jon works during the day as a
mild mannered Engineer putting together a chemical weapons
demilitarization plant. Before this gig, he spent close to 20 years as a
Rocket Engineering, doing what else, building rockets and sending things
into space (and occasionally to other planets). And now, after work Jon
transforms into a Heavy Metal musician playing tuba (CC, BBb, F, Eb, &
Wagner Bb) for over 36 years. Jon plays professionally for the Pueblo
Symphony Orchestra, Fountain Creek BB, and his own quintet Lincoln Street
Brass; Jon has previously played for the Pueblo Pops Orchestra, Pueblo
Brass Quintet, Pueblo Municipal Band, Pikes Peak Philharmonic, and Little
London Winds, along with a multitude Church and ad hoc Polka Bands. |

Curtis Edfast is a 25+ year Information Technology (IT) professional. After several decades hiatus from performing, he joined the FCBB in the Spring of 2005 playing bass trombone. In the Summer of 2008 he switched to 2nd B flat tuba and is enjoying supplying a solid foundation to this superb musical ensemble. Curtis has studied with Jack Robinson, Tuba / B-bone, UNC school of music; Jeff Craig Tuba / B-bone, Denver Brass, Jeremy Van Hoy, B-bone, Denver Brass and Kathy Brantigan, Tuba, and Lamont School of Music at DU. |
